Chères amies!

Can you believe it is the first day of December already? For us this is the start of a month filled with cosyness and pretty things. What is better than reading under a blanket on the sofa with a cup of hot coco or home made ginger tea? What feels more cozy than lighting candles all over the house. Who does not like this time of year where you have plenty of excuses to bake lovely cake, muffins, pies and onther yummy treats?
And if all that isn't enough already you also get to adorn your house with lovely ornaments, lights and bits of nature! I started making a small collection of fabric hearts from left-over fabric scraps to hang in our Christmas-tree and elsewhere in the house. Making them is like ointment to my soul. It makes me feel all relaxed. They give you a healthy dose of instant-gratification, since they take no time to make. And they are so pretty to look at. And the fact that you are recycling left-over material feels like you're doing something useful and good.

As you must know, us thé dansant-girls love drinking Tea. But do you know what we even love more? Drinking Tea...on a picknick! A slice of quiche, Greek salad, homemade scones with strawberry jam and Tea! If you should happen to think of anything more delicious than that, prey do tell me ;)

Oh, and don't you agree that having picknick on a boat must be highly romantic?

Hello my dears!

This Tuesday is pretty special because it's my 22nd birthday! So I thought we could share a cup of tea and some birthdaycake with candles - and of course cupcakes! I'd love to just lay in bed and be lazy all day, reading a classic while enjoying my cake. But alas! I have to study for my exams...
Since I'm having an English exam on Thursday, I figured it wouln't do any harm to take a little break and spend some time on writing a post here. I'm practising my English after all, aren't I?!

Hello dears!

As you might have noticed our blog has laid a little low lately. Unfortunately other obligations have been getting in the way, inhibiting us from posting! But as I found a little spot in my agenda, I decided it was time for us to have a chat again, cause I dare say I've really missed our teaparties ;)

Raspberry cake

Bonsoir mes filles!

Today I will share with you a delicious and super healthy sugar free cake recipe!

You will need:

200g flour
125ml milk
125g buter
125 g raspberries
3 eggs
1tsp stevia
1tsp baking soda

All you needs do do is mix everything together and gently add the raspberries at the end. Then put your batter in cupcake papers in a baking tin and voila, they are ready to bake at 170 C degrees for about 25 minutes.

I'm typing this post with Hot Pink fingernails. As you might have guessed already: that colour has been my obsession lately! It's perfect to add a girly touch and it can be edgy at the same time! If I wouldn't contain myself, I would be out now, buying a whole new pink wardrobe: pants, top, scarf, blazer, shoes, bag,...It all look so fash in pink! Though I have to say, when it comes to this colour, it's better to stick to one statement piece. Unless you want to look like fluorescent Barbie, that is!

Oh oui, it is again such a long time ago that we found the time to chat over a nice cup of hot tea! It is a shame really! But we have been utterly busy I dare say. Though not always Thé Dansant-related. Too often school and work take the first place on our to do-lists... So our blog and shop have been functioning merely on survival mode.

But, we musn't despair, spring has begun and sunshine gives us fresh energy! It might blow a fresh wind through Thé Dansant headquarters!

I've always been strongly convinced of the fact that putting on make-up has a therapeutical effect. For example: patchig up my face in the morning is really my waking-up ritual. If I haven't had that, my day is bound to be extremely afwul.

I find it to be very calming. Yes, you could even see it as a form of meditation! It keeps your hands busy and you need to be focused (unless you want to end up with the mascara brush poked in your eye, which will make cry, which will screw up what you had done so far, wich will make you extremely stressed in stead of zen), so in the meanwhile you can't be brooding about other stuff!

It also nice just because it's a way to take care of yourself...It gives you extra confidence and makes you feel as pretty as you really are.

As much as I love all-white or all-black rooms, I have to admit that an intense burst of colour can be gorgeous too sometimes! I simply adore the combination of teal and purple in the last picture. It really inspires me to bring some more colour in the moodboards I'm making for my home-to-be! On the other hand I'm afraid I might get tired of these bright colours after a while...

Oh mon Dieu! How will I ever figure out an apropriate colour scheme?!

My vacation has just come to an end and already I'm stressing again! That's why I made this post. Just to remind myself to let go of things more easily sometimes and not worry too much. Tea Tuesday with Orange Coconut Cake

Bonjour tout le monde!

Today I made myself a real treat to go with my cup of afternoon tea: orange and coconut cakes. The recipe was taken from the fabulous Canelle-Vanille and slightly adjusted for a lower cab version. All I did was replace the sugar with agave syrup and the tapioca with coconut flour.
Really, you should try this, you owe it to yourself!

Ok, so I know that Valentine is hardly an original post topic. I know it's a commercial concept that's being used as an excuse to sell mass-produced postcards and ugly heart-shaped pillows. I know that it's stupid to only give special attention to your lover on one day of the year and that every day should be like Valentine's Day. I know that it's highly annoying when you're single to see nothing but them bloody hearts and roses everwhere and having rubbed in that you haven't found your special someone yet.

But still, I can't help it. I love Valentine's Day. I love romance. I love a single red rose and a box of chocolates. And I love love :)

Wednesday gardening

Bonjour mes filles!

Yesterday and today we had such lovely almost spring-like weather here. Lucky me has a few days off work, so I could work in the garden and make it ready for spring. I have big plans for the garden this year. I want to make a extensive collection of pot plants on the terrace, with herbs and boxwood and flowers (definatly hydrangeas and maybe also roses). I also have new plans for the border which was very monotone and boring as it was left by the previous owners. So I took out some of the boxwood that was there and put it in big basket containers and I also moved the lavender in the same way. I bought some more helleborus plants and put them in the border next to the one I planted there next year. They are such great winter food for bees! It really made me happy to see the bee-creatures feast on my darling plants!

Gardening for me is probably the most effective way to clear my head!
And after the gardening of course I treated myself to a hot cup of tea and some raspberry bavarois.

We have a confession to make...

We are addicted to black.

It all started out very harmlessly: "Just one chalkboardpainted door in the kitchen please!" But then we started seeing gorgeous kitchens, with a whole wall or even better the whole room painted in black! And luxuourious bathrooms with shiny black walls, decadent bedrooms with black duvet covers and headboards - yes, even living rooms! So now we are black-paint-junkies! Completely hooked! If it were up to us, we would paint every single wall - well maybe not every wall, but still, a lot of them - in black.

But hey - can you blame us?
