Sweet Valentine

Sweet Valentine

Allô, allô!

In case you failed to notice: In exactly two weeks it's Valentine's day! Should you happen to be still in need of a present: Voilà here we are! Your hubby could surely appreciate a wise-owl presse-papier. Or you could give him a "I am your spoon", as a token of your love! Another lovely idea, which always does the trick: bake him a cake!

Should your darling himself be asking for any tips, don't forget to mention that we gift-wrap Valentine presents for free, so he doesnn't have to boggle with ribbons and paper himself ;)

Bonne soirée!

Bonjour tout le monde!

Since all the new collections are arriving in the shops, I thought it 'd be the perfect time to clean up my closet and investigate which basic key pieces are still missing. Some wardrobe essentials I'll be looking out for are:

1. Converse sneakers, they are super comfy, casual and will probably never go out of style.
2. A white shirt has been a basic since ages, but somehow I never seem to find the perfect one. So I'm gonna keep on looking!
3. A boyfriend blazer
4. A grey sweater, for it is easy to dress up or down and always nice!

The fun part of this is, I've got a nice excuse to go spend some money now (I need these things, don't I?!)

Bisous ;)

Baking on Thurseday

Baking on Thurseday

Bonjour mes amies,

A bit later then promised, but here is the pear cake recipe.

200g sugar + some more
200g butter + some more
100g flour
100g almound powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
3 sachets of vanilla sugar
2 pears

Pre-heat your oven at 175°C. Peel and slice the pears. Put the extra butter and sugar on the bottom of your baking tin. and arrange your pears on top. Fry the pears in the oven for about 15 minutes untill they are golden brown.
In the mean time cream the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Then add the milk, the baking powder, the vanilla sugar, the almond powder and the flour.
Take your baking tin out of the oven and in goes your dough.
Bake for about 60 minutes.

Have fun and enjoy!

Tea Tuesday

Tea Tuesday

Bonsoir mes chères!

It's been quite long since I managed to to a tea tuesday photosession for the blog! Not that I don't drink tea every day, I just don't seem able to manage to shoot lovely pics every now and then. This certainly has to do with having a regular full-time dayjob since last September. When I get home it is dark and quite impossible to shoot. But this weekend, I was able to squeeze in an elaborate tea-moment for myself. I took the time to read some tea-wisdoms in this lovely little book I got as a birthday-present from two collegues. And some candy, too. What a treat!

Bonjour!

My exams are nearly over and I just can't wait to go shopping again! Maybe pick up some sale-leftovers, like a gorgeous camel-coat that just happens to be in my size :) I've been swooning for a camel (coat off cours - not the animal, because that would be weird) the entire season, but my budget forced me to wear off the one I bought last year. But now I'm considering to buy on after all...Or maybe this sweet cape I spotted at Asos...

Bonne week-end!

Bonjour à tous,

With this winter overload of grey skies, rain, cold, wind and misery, I was in the mood for some colour today! So I put on hot pink wool socks and painted my lips in the same colour. And of course I had plentiful of tea, and also a slice of pear-cake I baked over the weekend. Now I think of it, it may be a lovely idea to share it with you later this week.
Don't let the weather bring you down! With the aid of tea and cake and a touch of pink you are invincible!

Style stories

Style stories

Hi there!

Yesterday I decided to take a petite break from studying and indulged in two hours of Sex and the City (the first movie). I love Carries way of dressing, especially in Season 6 and in the first movie. She aways manages to suprise with grazy combinations, bright pops of colour and original items (like the feather jacket in the second picture or the cute gloves in the third). My absolute favourite is the mille-feuilles dress she wears while waiting for the Russian in Paris!

Oh, and I'm totaly jealous of her hair!

Do you like Carries style?

I suppose you get the picture: We like it long, longer, longest!

This is btw a very nice way to incorporate that long evening dress (the one you once bought for a fancy party to never wear it again - oh no wait, that's me!) into your daily wardrobe...

Well, I'm kind of braindead now from al the studying - hence the shortness of my message! So I'm off to bed now. Sweet dreams!

Thruseday Bunting

Thurseday Bunting

Bonjour tout le monde!

So, the holidays are left behind us, vacation is (nearly) over, we are all back to work and our regular routines. We have nothing left but good memories and a whole collection of holiday cards on the mantle. Take a good look at those. What do you notice?

They are probably quite a mix-matched (or shall we say miss-matched?) collection of handmade and storebought, of bright and colorfull and neutral, of modern and classic style cards. This sort of mix doesn't really make the nicest view.
We decided we wanted to do something with our collection of cards, in a way that we could enjoy them the whole year! We didn't just want to throw out all the nice and lovely messages our friends and family sent us! This is where we figured it would be nice to make a bunting of best wishes and greetings!

It is easy as cake, we promise you. All you need for your bunting is of course a collection of cards, a pair of scissors, an end of string or ribbon (we used bakers twine), a leather punch and a scrap of random paper.

Here is how we did it:
1. Cut a triangular shape out of the paper scrap.
2. Use this template to cut nice and regular triangles out of your post cards.
3. Punch holes in your triangles with your leather punch.
4. Put them on a string and hang them in a nice spot.

That is all!
And see how lovely and playfull and totally pretty it looks?

Isis

Hello dears!

I've been a very busy bee lately since my exams are starting in a week! So as you can surely understand I've been drinking enormous amounts of tea to keep me going ;) To brighten up these lonely, brainwrecking, grey days I comforted myself a bit with these lovely colourfull inspirations...
