How to enjoy the holidays {part III}

picnikfile_pQEHUR

Bonjour mes chères filles!

Today it is time for our last edition of tips to get through the holidays in a quite pleasant way. Today is Christmas eve and probably most of you are preparing for tonight or tomorrow! Running around the kitchen? Wrapping presents? Deciding what to wear on tonight? Doing the last shopping bits?
Remember that you do not have to do all that stuff by yourself! Maybe you can send the man out to the shops, have your kids do the giftwrapping and decide wether it is really necessary to bake those cookies yourself or if store bought ones will do. Of course making everything youself is really charming and nice, but in these times where we all have jobs and very little spare time to be the good housewife, one needs to make decisions. And more importantly: we need to think about ourselves too! So don't stress out but choose to do the things you most enjoy and find alternatives for the rest!

Well, we for sure want to wish you the best and most relaxed Christmas you ever had!

We will be taking a small blogging break but will be back with new goodies in 2011!

Bisous,
Isis

Bonsoir mes belles!

As you see our postings are a bit mixed up and irregular! This is largely due to strangely cold and snowy weather (we are not very used to that in Belgium), being stuck in Holland, central heating systems that break down and a lot of miserable wintery events.
But! We won't let it all get to us. Remember, winter, snow and the holidays are there to enjoy. So, treat yourself to fashion and tea (they really can't be seperated at this time of year). Go our with a dear friend all prepped up and have something warm to drink in a lovely bar, or, invite your friends to your home! This would be a really lovely pre-Christmas party, so don't hesitate and make stylish arrangements for lunch this week!

Hello there!

Another small advice concerning the holidays: Keep it cosy! Surround yourself with furry blankets, knitted sweaters, a heap of presents, your pet/boyfriend and a burning fireplace!

Warmth and love: isn't that what these days are all about?

How to enjoy the holidays {part 1}

How to enjoy the holidays {part 1}

Bonsoir mes filles!

The Holidays are getting closer and closer! Many of us are already looking forward, but I know for sure just as many are dreading their arrival. Think of all the work that still needs to be done, presents that still need to be bought, decorations to be made, invites to be posted, ... and when all that is done you have to think about what you will cook, make you have enough dinner ware and chairs for all your guests, ... The list is quite endless really.

So we thought it might be usefull to guide you trough this time of year as smoothly as possible.

As always, start by putting on the kettle, choosing your favourite tea, and enjoy!
"Enjoy" really is the key word for the Holidays!
Try to forget all the responsabilities that come with Christmas, close your eyes and go back to your childhood. Back then the Holidays were the most exciting time of year, the whole world looked beautiful and fairytale like, decorating the christmas tree was a whole adventure, baking ginger bread and cookies something you would do every single day!
The first step to enjoying the Holidays is to look to the world with the eyes of your inner child: see the good things, the curious things, the exciting things, the pretty things. Make winter walks, enjoy the lovely decorations and hundreds of lights in the trees and on the streets, sit by the fireplace in the evening, enjoy the company of family and friends and make sure you laugh a lot!
If you follow this advice carefully, you're on your way to the best Christmas vacation in years!

Isis

Bonsoir mes belles!

Christmas is drawing near and maybe you are still looking for a perfect little something for a loved one? We thought this spoon from our shop just might be perfect! It has a little Christmas tree decoration as you can see.
These spoons make great decoration items, but of course you can also use them to eat your home baked cake or do stir your tea! It's all up to you!

Festive Stories

Festive stories

Oh la la mes chéries!

I apoligize sincerely for not showing up with a post yesterday! But I'm afraid I was otherwise engaged: we had a little family-party, for our mutti's birthday. To make up to you I will give you the recipe of the sweet and simple desert I made!

What you need is:
- 4 sheets of gelatine
- 2 eggwhites
- 100 gr of sugar
- 400 ml coconutmilk
- 200 ml cream
- a box of raspberries (you can use any kind of fruit really, it's also very yummie with chopped mango)
- two gingerbread cookies
- 6-8 glasses

What you do is:
- Let the sheets of gelatine soak in cold water for 5mins
- Put two tablespoons of the coconutmilk in a pan, mix the rest with the sugar
- Whip the cream
- Whip the eggwhites
- Put the pan on a very mild heat, wring out the gelatine sheets and let them melt in the coconutcream. Mix this under the rest of the coconutmilk.
- Mix in the whipped cream and eggwhites.
- Put a tablespoon of fruit in every glass (I poured some honey over the raspberries, cause they tend to be a bit sour, but if you use a sweet fruit like mango, this is obviously unnecessary) and then cover it with the creamy mixture. Let this rest in the fridge for about 2 hours.
- Before serving, I crumbled a few gingerbreadcookies in the blender and sprinkled this on top. Garnish with a few raspberries and a drop af honey.

Voila! I hope you enjoy it ;)

Bisous sucrés!

Winter Wednesday

Winter Wednesday
1. it's the most wonderful time of the year., 2. glassjars, 3. Christmas Vignette , 4. christmas lights

Bonsoir mes chères!

Today was a bittterly cold snowy day that was spent in Bruges (on work business). I won't complain, there are worse places to spend a snowy day. Bruges was all fairytale like and pretty as a cupcake. Sadly (for ya'll) I didn't get to take any photos though, because it was so cold that I just didn't want to torture myself with being outside longer than was striclty needed.
Sitting by the window in a café, watching the snowflakes twirl down, the lights in the pine trees on the market place, the snowy rooftops and enjoying a cup of tea was far more pleasurable.
Don't you agree?

Above are some pretty fantastic ideas for Christmas decor at home:
1. if you don't like pine trees (they do loose their needles which does require a lot of cleaning, which can be totally annoying) use a bouquet of random tree branches collected from the garden or park instead.
2. make your own christmas balls by wrapping scraps of pretty fabric around paper or polyutherane balls (oh, and add pretty ribbon, that is obvious).
3. if you don't like trees at all, fill some vintage glass jars with christmas decorations. looks really pretty on the coffee or side table.
4. upgrade your regular christmas lights by adding paper doilies! we will surely try this at home.

Isis
