Message Monday
Hi my dears!
This Monday I left a secret message in a photo booth! It actually felt rather silly, taking pictures in there, but at least I didn't have to pose for the camera myself - passport photo's are always the worst, don't you agree?
But I wasn't the only one who has been spreading around messages this week! Jasmine from The girl with the camera, has visited for a cup of tea and an interview and left with 5 of our secret message-envelopes who hold a discount-code! On her blog you can find more info about where these envelopes will be dropped and how you can win a set of button-magnets!
Bonne chance!

Fashion Friday: shoe storage

1. shoes on flickr, 2. bedroom - cabinet shoe storage on flickr, 3. DSC04854 on flickr, 4. I don't remember where i found this masterpiece, sorry!
Bonne nuit!
I know, this is just a couple of minutes too late to count as a Friday post, but heck, watching Sex and The City (The Movie) tonight just came first! I, shame on me, still hadn't seen the first one, and with the second movie being released in the theaters just within a few days, I needed to catch up. I'm sure you'll understand this was a matter of being desperate for at least the next few weaks, or being acceptably comfortable with myself.
Anyway, enough blabla for now. Let's get on with the real thing. I was gonna talk shoes today. We all love shoes, don't we? You have a shoe collection that's getting out of control too? I thought it was about getting time to find some idea's to get mine in hand again. The big dream of course is a walk in closet at least as big as my current tiny bedroom, but now I'll just need to go with a small built in closet.
Well, it's about time to float to dreamland on my own little cloud, so dreaming about pretty shoe storage walk in closets is what I'll do!
Happy weekend to you all!

Kitchen Stories: Kiwi-Cake

Bonjour!
Today I had the utmost pleasure of baking a cake with kiwi, and chocolate, and some strawberries for decoration! Not only did it look fab-a-di-fab, it tasted great too! How lucky I happened to make three of them ;) Now I can understand your mouth is already watering, so I'll explain you how I made it while I enjoy another slice!
You take four eggs and weigh them. You take the same weight of sugar, self-rising flour and butter. You mix the sugar, butter and egg yolks together. Then slowly add the flour and whipped egg whites. Butter up your cake form and fill half of it with the dough. Put slices of kiwi on top and cover them with the rest of the cake dough. Bake at 180°C for about half an hour or until nothing sticks at a knife you put in the cake.
Let the cake cool and start melting dark chocolate au-bain-marie. Pour the chocolate over the cake and put it in the fridge to cool. After about twenty minutes the chocolate has stiffened and the cake is ready to be served with a nice cup of hot tea!
Mmm, it really is delish ;)
Nighty-night!

Message Monday

Bonsoir!
Today's message was left on the train, somewhere between Lokeren and Gent, returning home after a small visit to a small village. The rest of the day was spent reading in the park under a very sunny sky!
Now my whole body is crying for a cup of evening tea, so I think I'll just give in and whish you a good, warm, summery night!

Sugary Saturday

Bonjour mes filles!
I saved up a real special treat to share with you today: the fabulous work of Nikole Heriott! Nikole bakes the most wonderful cakes and pies from her home in Toronto. She writes a blog about her baking adventures and things she likes (and we know you will love too!).
She owns a shop as beautiful as all her cakes together, with wooden kitchen utensils, cakestands and spoons.
My favourit part of her work must be the little vintage ribbon flags she makes do decorate her cakes with! Isn't that a brilliant idea? They add the perfect amount of dreamy-pirate-adventure to her work.
I want one of her cakes. Why oh why does she live on the other side of the world?
Bisous,
Isis

Bonjour chères amies!
Today was another lovely spring day: the sun was shining, people were riding around on bicycles, having picnic in the park, wearing summery dresses, flip-flops and SUNGLASSES! Now as true fashion-lovers we are aware of the fact that you can wear sunglasses anytime of the year, but I personally still enjoy them more when they're actually needed, because then they mean that summer has really began ;) Plus - like no other accessory - they give your outfit an instant summer feel and at the same time add distinction and class! So you see where I'm getting at: eyewear is not to be forgotten ànd worth an investment!
Enjoy finding your perfect pair ;)

Message Wednesday

Bonne journée mes amis!
As promised: the Message you should have gotten on Monday. This week we left a message in "De Muze". A lovely Jazz Café on the Melkmarkt in Antwerp, where they regularly give live performances. It's got a lovely old-fashioned look, with lots of wood, art-nouveau-chandeliers and the cutest green coffee-cups with a golden rim! It's the perfect place to be nostalgic or philosophise about life with a glass of red wine in your left hand an (for the smokers amongst us) a cigarette in your right!
I really do be believe we all need that from time to time, it clears the mind, don't you think?
Have a happy wednesday!

Tea Tuesday with new things to read

Hello my dearest friends!
Today we have good news! Good?! That really is an understatement. Listen to what I have to say!
I promise you these two treasures are a very dangerous companion to your cup of evening tea. But, who wants to go to bed early when you have something precious to look at?
The first magazine is By Fryd (for the english version click here), made by the super talented blogger behind Fryd og Design. She did everything herself, from the styling, to the photography and the layout. The result is just plain astonishing, as you can see for yourself in the above images taken from By Fryd.
The other mag, Sweet Paul Magazine, is an initiative from one of my all time favourit food stylists/bloggers/cooks: Sweet Paul. This ones makes you hungry by just looking. It has simple but fantastic DIY projects included and lots of recipes you can try at home!

Well, I'm going to make myself that cup of evening tea and enjoy these two beauties once more!
Bonsoir mes filles!

Message Monday

1. Vintage by Artistic Muse 2. Antique mailbox of pink rose by Jungle Durian
Bonjour dear readers!
Due to my tremendously chaotic life and even more chaotic and silly brain, I forgot my dearest camera at my boyfriend's house. So yet again we have an unusual Message Monday for you this week... But I promise however to make all this folly and nonsense up to you with a Message Wednesday (the day my sweet boyfriend will give my sweet camera back to me ;)). In the meantime I thought I'd share these adorable ol' fashioned mailboxes with you! There ain't nothing more romantic than a handwritten love letter I dare say. It really is a shame that e-mail and text-messages have taken those away from us. And left those poor mailboxes with nothing to fill them but bills and advertisements - and maybe if we're very lucky an occasional postcard...
Ah well, at least it gives us something be nostalgic about!
Good night my loves!

Bonsoir mes belles,
The week is nearly finished and it is time for the weekend! Have you got any plans? I whish I was enjoying a ballet performance at the opera right now. I would take with me my vintage spectacles and silk gloves, wear my powder pink ballerinas and tie my hair in a knot. Ballet inspired outfits are something I truly love (maybe even more than I love tea!) - Oh no, that I can simply not allow myself!!!
I also just found out about this new thing: yollet, which is a combination of ballet and yoga. I so want to try this. It looks like the best way to excercise ever. I've done ballet for many years, and now I take yoga classes, but it would be great to do a bit of both at the same time!
Oh well, it's getting late, and I want to read my new vtwonen with a hot cup of earl grey.
How did you spoil yourself tonight?

Kitchen Stories

Hi darlings!
As you may already know I'm a huge sucker - pardon my language, but it's true - for Italian food! As it happens, so is my man... So from time to time we dare to experiment with some Italian cooking! Last weekend we made fresh pasta, coloured with spinach with a sauce of tomato and peppers. Ah, my mouth waters again while I reminisce, so let me be generous and share the recipe with you!
For two persons:
You take 100grams of flour, one egg and about a handful of cooked, squeezed out and chopped spinach and knead them together to an elastic dough, which you roll into a ball. You fold the ball in a tea towel and let it rest for half an hour.
Meanwhile, you put a lump of butter in pan, and glaze an onion and some garlic. In another pan you bake some shreds of bacon. Add a large red pepper to the onion and half a glass of water. When the peppers are almost done, you pour in a can of peeled and chopped tomatoes. Spice things up with salt, pepper, basil and a teaspoon of honey and let it simmer for a few more minutes.
Now you start boiling water for you pasta. Take up your ball, roll it out and let it run trough your pasta machine, making it it thick or as thin as you like it best yourself! Put the pasta in the boiling water for just a few minutes...and done!
All that is left for you to do is pour out a nice glass of red wine, stack your plate full with pasta, sauce and, not be forgotten, grated cheese and simply indulge ;)
Bon appétit!

Bonjour mes amies,
Today I am so completely tired from work, that even tea won't help keeping me awake anymore (How bad can it get, I wonder?)
I am already floating off to dreamland on my very own little cloud. Dreamland looks a bit like this: frilly, furry, soft and pink and girly and sweet, a touch of pepper and classic elegance, a pinch of rococco and a spoonfull of lace and mousseline.
Who wouldn't dream of all that?

Tea Tuesday
My dears,
Nimue
A real diva makes sure she gets whatever she wants, exactly when she decides she wants it! So if she wanted, a diva could even have a Tea Tuesday on a Wednesdaymorning ;) Dita Von Teese is one of those glamorous, sparkling diva's - although I'm sure she'd rather sip a martini with an olive in stead of tea with biscuits! Anyhow she is a gorgeous fabulous lady who knows how to be glamorous the old-movie-star-way and that's exactly the way we like it ;) So please let's take look (you can peek over my shoulder!) in her fabulous biography "The art of glamour".

Off course we'll be back this evening for a real wednesday post!
A bientôt!

Bonsoir!
Firstly: Happy Mothers Day to all mothers reading!
Secondly: Due to real life interfering again we couldn't do a post on Thurseday. We are making up for it now with a Sunday post. No, don't look angry! We really can't help it! We promise to be nice girls from now on...
And now for real:
Although May has been a bit dissappointing when it comes to the weather, I have been dreaming of romantic gardens with a touch of wild lately! I love gardens that look natural and spontaneous, and that don't take a lot of time to maintain. I want a lilac tree, and hiacynths, and tulips, and forget-me-nots, and iron fences, and blossoming fruit trees and beautiful garden tools.
Can you imagine a summer Sunday dinner in one of the above gardens? Sure I can!
Enjoy your last bits of the weekend!!!

Message Monday

Bonne journée!
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! I had a fab time eating out with friends in the lovely Sicilian restaurant Il Mezzogiorno! Now I must admit I love all things similar to pasta, but these pappardelle with rocket-salad and prawns were exceptionally tasty! Not only was the food delish, at Il Mezzogiorno they guarantee to use authentic, fresh and (mostly) organic ingredients. Ain't that fabulous?!
After indulging in a to-die-for piece of tiramisu, I did my duty and left a secret message on my chair, for the next guest to read while enjoying a lovely diner!
Do you like eating out? What's your favarite restaurant or dish? Please share ;)
Bye now dears,
Nimue
